Administrative Divisions

 


The framework of the library consists of the following divisions:
  • Administration:has the responsibility for supervising the process of work and sending and receiving communications which are preserved in the archive.
  • Provision Division: provides the library with information with all its types, such as books, periodicals, auditory and visual materials as well as any information relevant to the library, upon faculties' request.
  • Cataloguing and classifying Division: aims at arranging library materials according to technical standards to make it easy to store and return. This division concerned with having materials completely documented and identified, giving them numbers so beneficiaries or visitors can know the place of the material and have the ultimate economy of time and effort. The library accredits Dewey decimal classification (the 21th edition), which is also accredited in most Jordanian universities because it’s easy to deal with by both personnel and beneficiaries. It also accredits headline lists prepared by Dr. Sha’ban Khalifah, American cataloguing rules prepared by Michele Gorman in its second edition of the second level. The division has created several files: supporting author file, commission file as well as suppliers and headline files as a reference for cataloguing and classifying process. Furthermore, the library collaborated with the Computer Centre at the University to build up an automatic system for cataloguing and classification using an Oracle program which provides direct search service.
  • Database division:
    1. This unit supervise and monitors the operation of the library`s database of the international database that zu is subscribed with such as (Springer, access pharmacy, EBSCO, Ebrary, Adala).
    2. It contains audio visual materials as well as cds for students.
    3. It also conducts reports and statistics for library.
  • Loan Division: an automatic system which allows library visitors to benefit from different materials:

  • High – Demand Books shelf: has the responsibility for supervising the process of work and sending and receiving communications which are preserved in the archive.
  • Clearance: students and staff members can make clearance from the library by returning all borrowed books and library materials.

  • Library fines:
    1. late books returns are fined 15 piaster's if they are on standard loan , in addition to banning the library user from making further loan orders.
    2. If the book on standard loan is more than 30 days late, it will be considered lost , and a fine must be paid three times the value of the book.
    3. if a high demand book is late , a fine of 10 piaster's/hour must be paid.
