Under the patronage of Zarqa University Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Alaa Al-Din Sadeq, Zarqa University concluded the activities of the “A Hand That Teaches” initiative, implemented by the Deanship of Student Affairs in cooperation with the Faculty of Educational Sciences and the Faculty of Science over a period of two months.

The initiative aimed to provide orphaned children affiliated with Omar Bin Al-Khattab Charitable Society with foundational instruction in reading and writing skills, while enhancing their educational and cognitive abilities.

The closing ceremony was attended by President of Omar Bin Al-Khattab Charitable Society, Mr. Mohammad Samarah; Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Mukhlid Al-Zoubi; Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Alia Burqan; Vice Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Dr. Mahmoud Marwah; as well as a number of supervisors, volunteers, initiative coordinators, and participating children.

Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Mukhlid Al-Zoubi, emphasized that the “A Hand That Teaches” initiative reflects Zarqa University’s strong commitment to community engagement and its dedication to utilizing its resources and students’ capabilities in serving the local community, particularly orphaned children.

Al-Zoubi highlighted the importance of volunteerism and social solidarity in supporting groups most in need. He noted that university-led initiatives help build strong connections with local community institutions and provide students with meaningful opportunities to translate their academic knowledge and humanitarian values into practical activities with a tangible social impact.

He also expressed his appreciation for the role of Zarqa Company for Education and Investment and its Chairman, Dr. Mahmoud Abdul Razzaq Abu Shaerah, in supporting such community-based initiatives.

For his part, President of Omar Bin Al-Khattab Charitable Society, Mr. Mohammad Samarah, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Zarqa University for this meaningful initiative. He also praised the efforts of the University, the Deanship of Student Affairs, the participating faculties, and the volunteers who contributed to its implementation.

The initiative included a range of educational and interactive activities and lessons focusing on developing children’s basic reading and writing skills, enhancing their linguistic and cognitive abilities, and increasing their engagement in the learning process within a supportive and motivating educational environment.

The organizers emphasized the importance of continuing such educational and community programs due to their positive impact on supporting children, developing their skills, and promoting the values of social responsibility and volunteerism, in line with Zarqa University’s mission and its commitment to community service.
