Zarqa University,
represented by the student Kenan Hariri from the Faculty of Information
Technology, participated in the working sessions of the International
Conference on Refugees "Protracted Displacement - Hopes, Aspirations and
Solutions", which started an event using visual communication technology
on Monday 10/19/2020, and will last for four days.
The conference
is organized by the Center for Studies of Refugees, Displaced Persons and
Forced Migration at Yarmouk University, the German Jordanian University, the
Syrian Jordanian Education Program (EDU-Syria), the Academics Program in
Solidarity at the Free University of Berlin (AIS), the German Agency for
International Cooperation (GIZ), and the German Agency for Academic Exchange.
DAAD, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), with support
from the German University Project Office at the Magdeburg-Stendal University
of Applied Sciences, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, and
the European Union.
Hariri
participated in the second session entitled "Protracted Displacement and Higher
Education in the Middle East Region", speaking about her joining the Zarqa
University as part of the DAFI scholarship to study Journalism and Mass
Communication, and returning to school after a five-year break, in
addition to the difficulties students face to integrate into new societies and
starting their working life.
Hariri thanked
the efforts of Zarqa University and its cooperation with international and
local organizations to secure study opportunities for Syrian students in
Jordan, and working for their integration into Jordanian society.
