Professor Jihad Hamdan, President
of the University, received, on Tuesday 15/9/2020, a delegation from the Abdul
Hameed Shoman Foundation - Arab Bank, which included the head of the Public
Relations Department at the Foundation, Mr. Muhannad Talal Al-Ratrout, and the
Scientific Research Fund official Mrs. Alaa Al-Sharman, in the presence of the
Vice President For Academic Affairs and Quality, Prof. Dr. Nidal Al-Ramahi and
Dean of Scientific Research, Dr. Khaled Al-Qawasmi, with the aim of
strengthening the means of research cooperation between the university and the
Foundation.
Prof. Hamdan affirmed the
university's support for scientific research and innovation among faculty
members, researchers and students, and its keenness to establish partnerships
with various research and scientific institutions, especially the Abdul Hameed
Shoman Foundation, to motivate faculty members to produce distinguished
research.
He pointed out that the
university's strategy is based on achieving excellence in educational, research
and community services at the local, Arab and international levels, and its
mission is based on preparing capable scientific competencies and producing
creative scientific research that contributes to building a knowledge economy,
all within the framework of the values of transparency, clarity, justice and
creativity.
The delegation presented a detailed
explanation about the research projects supported by the Foundation, including
the Research Support Fund projects in cooperation with the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States of America with the aim of
providing initial support for joint scientific research between researchers
from Zarqa University and researchers from MIT, where the Foundation will
provide a total amount of 100,000 dinars annually to support joint research
between Jordanian researchers and their counterparts at (MIT), the fund also provides financial
grants to support joint research with a maximum value of $ 30,000 to support
travel, accommodation and training expenses for Jordanian researchers and their
assistants during their joint stay in the United States, in addition to hosting
researchers at the MIT Institute in Jordan for the purpose of conducting
research with Jordanian researchers. This fund was launched on 31 / 8/2020.
The delegation indicated that the
Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation has opened the door to apply for research
projects related to Coronavirus 19 in all fields of economic, social, health,
medical and other specializations, with funding of up to 20000 Jordanian dinars
for a period of 12 months, note that the period between the evaluation of applications and
support is approximately 30 working days and that the last date for submitting
applications for nomination for the award is Sunday, 1/11/2020, or when the
allocated funding expires.
