Zarqa University participated in the 8th International Education Exhibition (EDEX), specializing in educational tourism, which was held in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and began yesterday, Saturday, July 20th, 2025, and continued for two days.
The exhibition was inaugurated under the patronage of the Governor of Erbil, Mr. Omed Khoshnaw, and attended by His Excellency Mr. Fouad Majali, the Jordanian Consul General in Erbil.
Jordan's participation in this exhibition comes within the framework of implementing the executive plan for the strategy to attract international students to study in Jordanian higher education institutions for the years (2023–2027), which was prepared by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in cooperation with the Jordan Tourism Board and approved by the Council of Ministers.
This strategy aims to strengthen the Kingdom's position as a regional center for educational tourism and increase the number of international students studying at Jordanian universities. It is worth noting that the Ministry and Jordanian universities have participated, and will participate, in a number of similar international exhibitions during 2025.
The university's participation in the exhibition came as part of a special pavilion for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Jordan Tourism Board, in addition to other pavilions for (14) public and private Jordanian universities, along with a number of academies specializing in aviation, culinary arts, and tourism.
This Jordanian participation comes after the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq announced its official recognition of all public and private Jordanian universities that participated in the activities of the Jordanian-Kurdistan Higher Education Forum (Erbil 2024), which was held in May of last year.
Prof. Dr. Nidal Al-Ramahi, the President of Zarqa University, emphasized that the university's participation in this exhibition reflects its commitment to international openness and communication with students from various countries, especially from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, is highlighted in light of the strong academic relations between the two sides.
He pointed out that Zarqa University seeks to enhance its international presence by participating in such important educational events, which contribute to highlighting the quality of Jordanian higher education and its distinguished academic programs.
He expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Ministry of Higher Education and the Jordan Tourism Board in supporting Jordanian universities and contributing to conveying their educational message abroad.
Prof. Khaled Al-Zaidiyen, the Dean of Admissions and Registration at Zarqa University, emphasized that the exhibition provided an important opportunity to introduce students and visitors to the university's majors and admission procedures.
He explained that the university pays great attention to international students in terms of academic support and support services, which enhances their educational experience in Jordan and contributes to building a good reputation for Jordanian universities abroad.
He explained that during the exhibition, the university, through the staff of the Deanship of Admissions and Registration, provided a comprehensive explanation of its academic programs across various degrees and specializations, in addition to the services it provides to international students. These programs received great interest and interaction from visitors and interested parties.
