Zarqa University achieved a new
sporting excellence by taking second and third place in the Kingdom's National
Karate Championship, held at Prince Faisal Hall in Amman on Friday, July 11th,
2025. The event featured elite university and club athletes from across the
Kingdom.
Student Mohammed Shaheen from the Faculty
of Pharmacy won second place and the silver medal in the men's under-21
individual combat, and also won second place in the over-84 kg individual
combat.
Student Mohammed Hussein from the Faculty
of Information Technology also won third place and the bronze medal in the
men's under-67 kg individual combat, while student Alaa Shaheen from the Faculty
of Pharmacy won third place and the bronze medal in the men's under-84 kg
individual combat.
Prof. Dr. Nidal Al-Ramahi, Zarqa
University President, expressed his pride in this remarkable achievement by the
university's students, emphasizing that "the excellence our students
demonstrate in national sporting events reflects the university's deep vision
for nurturing students and developing their comprehensive capabilities."
He emphasized that the university,
with the direct support of His Excellency Dr. Mahmoud Abu Shaira, the Chairman
of the Board of Directors of Zarqa Educational and Investment Company, is
committed to providing all possible support to outstanding students in various
fields, out of our belief that sports constitute an integral part of integrated
university life.
Dr. Mukhled Al-Zoubi, Dean of Students’
Affairs, noted that this achievement reflects the fruitful efforts of the
Deanship of Student Affairs, in cooperation with the administrations of the
various faculties, emphasizing continued support for university teams and
creating an environment conducive to excellence.
He explained that this victory
affirms Zarqa University's position in supporting student excellence, not only
academically, but also across all areas of university activity.
