The Minister of Government
Communication and official spokesperson for the Jordanian government, Dr.
Mohammad Al-Momani, emphasized that political participation is a continuous
practice reflecting political dynamism and development within societies.
This came during a lecture organized
by the Faculty of Media at Zarqa University, attended by the Chairman of the
Board of Directors of
Zarqa Company for Education and Investmen,
His Excellency Dr. Mahmoud Abu Shaera, the Chairman of the University’s Board
of Trustees, His Excellency Eng. Samir Al-Habashneh, and the University
President, Dr. Nidal Al-Ramahi.
In the lecture, titled "The
Role of Media in Enhancing Political Participation and Addressing Youth and
Employment Issues," and attended by the Vice President for Academic
Affairs Prof. Aladdin Sadeq, the Vice President for Administrative Affairs
Prof. Nidal Eisha, Dean of the Faculty of Media Dr. Amjad Sufouri, faculty
deans, academic staff, and university students, Dr. Al-Momani stressed that
media is a cornerstone of any democratic project. It serves as a voice for the
citizens, enabling them to follow up, hold officials accountable, and participate
in public affairs.
He
pointed out that political participation cannot flourish without a responsible
media environment, noting that the government, through the Ministries of
Government Communication and Political and Parliamentary Affairs, is working to
promote and disseminate these values through well-planned methods tailored to
the needs of youth.Dr. Al-Momani also highlighted the government's commitment
to strengthening partnerships with universities and encouraging the launch of
student-led media initiatives that promote a culture of dialogue and
responsible freedom. He called for the creation of digital content that steers
away from negativity and skepticism and instead reinforces values of
creativity, entrepreneurship, hard work, and productivity.
At the end of the lecture, the
Minister expressed his gratitude to Zarqa University for the invitation,
affirming his confidence in the ability of Jordanian youth to continue the path
of reform and contribute to building a brighter and more prosperous future.
For his part, Eng. Samir
Al-Habashneh highlighted the importance
of media institutions and digital platforms in reinforcing national unity,
noting that Jordan is the fruit of the Great Arab Revolt and carries its
national and pan-Arab mission.
At the conclusion of the event, Dr.
Mahmoud Abu Shaera, Eng. Samir Al-Habashneh, and Dr. Nidal Al-Ramahi presented
an honorary plaque from Zarqa University to the Minister of Government
Communication, Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani.
