Dr. Kawthar Amawi, Dean of the
Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences at Zarqa University, participated in the 13th
Annual International Conference on Health and Medical Sciences, held in Athens,
Greece, from May 5th to 8th, 2025, under the auspices of
the Athens Journal of Health and Medical Sciences.
Dr. Amawi presented a scientific
paper titled "Investigating the Expression of Cyclin D1 and PAX5 in the
Liver of Diabetic Rats". The paper aimed to assess the expression levels
of the PAX5 and Cyclin D1 genes in the liver tissue of diabetic and
non-diabetic rats. An animal model of diabetes was developed and laboratory
experiments were conducted on it.
The results showed a significant
increase in glucose levels and lipid profiles in the diabetic group compared to
the control group. Histological studies also revealed slight changes in liver
structure, while immunohistochemical analyses revealed a significant increase
in the expression of PAX5 and Cyclin D1 in the liver tissue of diabetic rats.
These results suggest that overexpression of PAX5 and Cyclin D1 in the liver
may play a potential role in the inflammation associated with the development
of diabetes, making them important molecular markers for understanding inflammatory
changes in the liver in diabetic patients.
The conference was organized by the
Medical Unit at the Athens Institute as part of the 11th International
Mini-Symposium on Diabetes, which aims to bring together academics and
researchers in the field of diabetes and related medical disciplines.
