Under the patronage of His
Excellency Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, the European Union Ambassador to
Jordan, and in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Mahmoud Abu Shaira, Chairman
of the Board of Directors of Zarqa Educational and Investment Company, Zarqa
University hosted a Ramadan Iftar on Thursday, March 20th, 2025, for
EDU-SYRIA scholarship students from Zarqa University, the German-Jordanian
University, and Princess Sumaya University. The event was attended by more than
200 students.
The ceremony was attended by a
number of prominent academic figures, including Prof. Nidal Al-Ramahi,
President of Zarqa University, Prof. Alaa Eddin Al-Halhouli, President of the
German-Jordanian University, and Dr. Diaa Abu Teir, Director of the EDU-SYRIA
Project.
The ceremony was also attended by Prof.
Alaa Eddin Sadeq, Vice President of Zarqa University for Academic Affairs, Prof.
Nidal Aisha, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, and Prof. Khaled
Al-Zaidin, Dean of Admissions and Registration at Zarqa University, representatives
from the European Union, Queen Rania Academy, charitable funds, Syrian
Education Project partners, the UNHCR, and the Syrian Education Project
management team from the German Jordanian University participated in the
ceremony.
In his speech, Prof. Al-Ramahi emphasized
the university's continued support for Syrian students under the EDU-SYRIA
scholarship, believing in its humanitarian and educational role in promoting a
spirit of social solidarity.
Prof. Al-Ramahi added that
organizing this year's Ramadan iftar falls within the framework of the
university's commitment to providing a supportive environment for students, not
only academically but also socially, by strengthening communication between
them and the university community.
He also emphasized Zarqa
University's commitment to providing all possible support to Syrian students,
emphasizing that investing in education is the cornerstone of a bright future
for them. He praised the role played by the EDU-SYRIA scholarship in empowering
young people and providing them with the opportunity to complete their higher
education. Over the past few years, Zarqa University has been striving to
strengthen communication between Syrian students studying at universities under
European Union scholarships, believing in the importance of instilling the
values of social solidarity and human cohesion, especially during the holy
month of Ramadan, which embodies the highest values of giving and affection.
