The Department of Applied Hearing
and Speech at the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences at Zarqa University held a
specialized lecture on cochlear implants on Sunday, December 22nd, 2024.
The lecture was devoted to
discussing "When does the role of the surgeon end and the role of the
audiologist begin in the cochlear implant process?", and was presented by
Dr. Ammar Ayasrah, an otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon, in the
presence of Dr. Amer Ayasrah, the Head of the Department of Applied Speech
Language Pathology and Audiology, faculty members, and students.
The lecture focused on highlighting
the complementary roles between the different specialties in the field of
cochlear implantation, with a discussion of the dividing line between the tasks
of the surgeon and the audiologist, and the importance of cooperation between
them to ensure the best results for patients.
The lecture included a discussion on
the challenges facing the medical team in this field and the best practices to
improve coordination between the two sides.
