Under the patronage of Prof. Dr.
Alaa Eddin Sadeq, the Vice President of Zarqa University and Dean of the
Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Arts celebrated the International Day of the
Arabic Language on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024.
The event was attended by deans of
faculties, heads of departments, faculty members, and students of the Faculty
of Arts.
The event included a lecture given
by Dr. Omar Al-Qayyam entitled "The Arabic Language from the Threshold of Attention
to the Orbit of Understanding", and a documentary film about the Arabic
language was shown, as well as excerpts from Nabati poetry, poems, thoughts,
literary competitions, a poetry debate, chanting, and a series of Andalusian
Muwashahat.
Prof. Dr. Alaa Eddin Sadeq stressed
that celebrating the International Day of the Arabic Language embodies the
great interest in the Arabic language as the language of the nation and the
Holy Quran, noting that the Arabic language deserves to be celebrated daily as
a symbol of the cultural and civilizational identity of the Arab nation.
He explained the importance of the
Arabic language in raising the status of the Arab and Islamic nation, stressing
that its dissemination can only be done through its people.
He pointed out the Faculty's
keenness to organize scientific days and celebrations that contribute to
strengthening the relationship between faculty members and students, reflecting
the Faculty's vision aimed at caring for students from the academic,
scientific, and recreational aspects.
Dr. Alaa Eddin Sadeq expressed his
deep gratitude to His Excellency Dr. Mahmoud Abu Shaira, Chairman of the Board
of Directors of Zarqa Educational and Investment Company, for his continuous
and diligent support for Zarqa University, praising his pioneering role in
enhancing the university's educational and cultural journey, and his great
interest in the language of the nation and its history, pointing out that this
support represents a great incentive to achieve more accomplishments and raise
the academic level, which contributes to serving the community and enhancing
the status of the Arabic language as an integral part of our national and
cultural identity.
At the end of the event, Prof. Sadeq
presented certificates of appreciation to those in charge of the World Arabic
Language Day from faculty members, administrators, and students in the Faculty
of Arts
