Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Nidal Al-Ramahi, Zarqa University President, Zarqa University launched, on Thursday, December 12^th, 2024, an awareness campaign on the dangers of smoking under the title "Be a Role Model and Put It Out", which was launched by the Deanship of Students’ Affairs in cooperation with the medical and health faculties and the Medical Services Department at the university.

The launching of the campaign was attended by Prof. Dr. Alaa Eddin Sadeq, the Vice President of Zarqa University for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Majed Masaada, the Dean of Students’ Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Khaled Al-Zaidyeen the Dean of Admissions and Registration.

The campaign aims to raise awareness among students about the dangers of smoking and its negative impact on human health by displaying models and medical examinations, in addition to health activities and programs to combat smoking, with a focus on the importance of involving the educational family in students' health, modifying healthy behavior, and benefiting from health service providers, with the aim of spreading awareness of health, environmental, and social risks.

Prof. Dr. Nidal Al-Ramahi said that Zarqa University plays an important role in organizing anti-smoking activities and campaigns among its students, faculty members, and employees. The university is an influential environment for raising people's awareness of the dangers of smoking and encouraging them to abstain from this harmful habit. He explained that the university relies on guiding its students and employees by providing specialized services in combating smoking, such as health consultations and guidance programs to stop smoking, to provide the necessary support to abstain from this harmful habit.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Majed Masaada said that Zarqa University always continues to build a healthy smoking-free environment by providing special places for smokers and encouraging initiatives that limit tobacco consumption within the university campus.

He stressed the importance of the actual implementation of the campaign on the ground, which is concerned with raising awareness of the harms of smoking on the health of the individual and society, expressing his pride in the wide response to the campaign, noting that the university will continue to contribute to eliminating the scourge of smoking, and similar negative phenomena, to reach a healthy society free from all epidemics.
