Dr. Mohammad Al-Mardini, Director of
the Astronomy and Space Sciences Research Center at Zarqa University, visited
American universities to present the role of Zarqa University in developing
astronomy and space sciences in Jordan.
During his tour, which included the
most prominent American universities, including the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology, Al Mardini gave a series of lectures that highlighted the advanced
scientific infrastructure in Jordan.
Al Mardini reviewed the initiatives
of the Astronomy and Space Technology Research Center at Zarqa University in
supporting emerging scientists to build a national center concerned with
innovation and scientific cooperation.
On the sidelines of the visit, Al
Mardini toured various American universities, during which he gave extensive
lectures on the comprehensive research led by Zarqa University, focusing on the
cultural and scientific impact of astronomy in Jordan and its contribution to increasing
the interest of Jordanian youth in science. He explained how the university
aims to enhance cooperation with prestigious institutions to support
researchers and enable them to engage in the global scientific arena.
The visit was an important step to
explore ways of scientific cooperation between Zarqa University and American
universities, as Al Mardini presented an integrated vision for the university's
role in advancing space sciences and established new cooperative opportunities
to support scientific research and develop Jordanian scientists. The visit
contributed to Al Mardini's communication with researchers and professors,
which established the possibility of future partnerships that include student
exchange, joint research and technological development.
The attendees expressed their
appreciation for Al Mardini's efforts in the strategic vision of the Astronomy
Research Center and Zarqa University in providing advanced tools and resources
and providing mentoring opportunities for the next generation of scientists.
Prof. Dr. Nidal Al Ramahi, President
of Zarqa University, said that this visit enhances technical expertise,
cooperation, and research exchange between Zarqa University and the American
University through discussions on research methodologies and exchange of ideas
in the field of astronomy and space sciences.
He added that this experience
creates an opportunity to work side by side with highly experienced
professionals in astronomical research and at the same time raises the passion
among faculty members and students for scientific research.
For her part, Dr. Alia Burgan, Dean
of the Faculty of Sciences, expressed her happiness with this visit, which has
a positive impact on the Faculty of Sciences in particular and Zarqa University
in general, contributing to increasing cooperation with international
universities, which benefits faculty members and develops their skills.
