Students from the Faculty of Science at Zarqa University, led by
student Laith Maqaddi, have observed a rare encounter between two celestial
bodies, Saturn and the Moon, as part of their Astronomy course supervised by
Dr. Mohammed Al-Mardini.
This activity is part of the students' engagement in monitoring
rare celestial events. The unusual phenomenon provides astronomers and
stargazers alike with a unique opportunity to observe two celestial bodies in
close proximity.
Dr. Alia Barqan, the dean of the Faculty of Science, expressed
that the students' passion for astronomy, both within the college and the
university at large, motivated them to capture images of this phenomenon.
Al-Mardini emphasized that such occurrences contribute to
gathering valuable data about the physical properties of both celestial bodies,
including size, composition, atmosphere, surface features, gravitational
forces, and potential interactions between them.
