The
Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, His Excellency Dr.
Amr Ezzat Salama, and his accompanying delegation visited Zarqa University to
get acquainted with the methods and equipment adopted by the university in
education.
He
was welcomed by Mahmoud Abu Shaira, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the
Zarqa Company for Education and Investment, the President of Zarqa University,
Prof. Dr. Nidhal Al Ramahi, the Vice-Presidents and a number of deans.
Dr.
Salama explained that Al-Zarqa University is one of the Arab universities that
has been a pioneer in developing the e-learning environment, as it has started
since the beginning of the current academic year in teaching multiple courses
through e-learning in accordance with its approved study plans.
He
stressed the need to develop training programs for all university leaders and
officials in educational institutions in the fields of administration, finance,
psychology and information technology.
Dr.
Amr Ezzat Salama pointed to the importance of developing the e-learning
environment in Arab universities in terms of technology, preparing human
cadres, motivating and training professors and students, and spreading the
e-learning culture for the vocabulary of study plans.
Dr.
Salama called for linking the scientific promotions of faculty members in Arab
universities to the extent to which the results of scientific research and
innovation are linked with scientific publishing and the needs of society.
For
his part, Prof. Al Ramahi stressed the necessity of networking between Al-Zarqa
University and Arab universities, noting that the university, under the direct
guidance of the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Mahmoud Abu Shaira, has
many distinguished relations with the Association of Arab Universities through
hosting the Association of Computer Faculties and its annual conference of the
Federation.
Al Ramahi
also explained that Zarqa University has developed new specializations that are
compatible with modern technological developments and the needs of the local
and regional market to provide job opportunities for Jordanian and Arab youth,
and seeks to develop new specializations during the coming period to meet the
changes in the labor market and the needs of societies, especially in the
health and professional aspect, in addition to providing services to members of
the local community.
Al Ramahi
stressed that the university contributes to most of the scientific activities
and events held by the association, stressing its keenness to strengthen the
system of joint Arab action through the Union of Arab Universities and relevant
Arab institutions to exchange experiences and enhance Arab cooperation in
ambitious projects aimed at raising the level of Arab universities to the ranks
of prestigious international universities.
At
the end of the visit, His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Union of
Universities and his accompanying delegation toured the facilities of Zarqa
University, and expressed his admiration for the level reached by the
university in the field of teaching, scientific research and community service.
