Zaid Al-Atal, the student from the Department of Artificial Intelligence at the Faculty of Information Technology at Zarqa University, and among the "Observatory" youth team, achieved second place in the Kingdom in a spacecraft design competition.
The "Observatory" team includes, in addition to Zaid Nader, Muhammad Abu Dayeh, Ammar Allam and Omar Baalbaki, under the technical supervision of Muhannad Zaatreh.
This competition is organized by the Jordan Space Agency for Research initiative (Jesri), boardless labs, fablab-irbid, and the creative zinc platform (Zinc), with the aim of reaching the idea of making a "rover" to study the surface of Mars, in addition to studying the nature of the gases present on Mars, and the extent effectiveness and realism of the experience.
Four teams qualified for the final stage, which was held on 10-20-2021 in Wadi Rum, to implement the idea and turn it into an actual project, before a local and international jury specializing in the design of spacecraft and "rover" vehicles.
The President of Zarqa University, Prof. Nidal Al-Ramahi, expressed his pride in the university’s students and the achievements they have reached in the various faculties, and their quest to always achieve the best. He extended his thanks to the Board of Directors of the Education and Investment Company, represented by the Chairman of the Council, Dr. Mahmoud Abu Shaira, for his continuous generous support to the university in its faculties, deanships and students.
The Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, Dr. Muhammad Hassan, said that the Faculty has supported and followed up the student Zaid Al-Atal since the first stage and for seven consecutive months, stressing that the Faculty harnessed all its capabilities for the students to achieve more creativity.
