Badr Muhammad Al-Howri, a Syrian
student studying Arabic Language and Literature at Zarqa University, met a
distinguished achievement by winning second place in the 2025
"International Student Reciter" Competition, organized by the
Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in cooperation with the
Jordan Tourism Board.
This award came during the closing
ceremony, held under the patronage of Dr. Mamoun Al-Dabai, the
Secretary-General of the Ministry, on behalf of Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, the Minister
of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and attended by a number of
ambassadors, cultural attachés, and university presidents.
Dr. Al-Dabai emphasized that this
competition reflects Jordan's mission of sponsoring the Holy Quran and
encouraging international students to participate and excel. He noted that
Jordan embraces international students as its own children and is keen to
support them in their academic and cultural journeys.
For his part, Prof. Nidal Al-Ramahi,
the President of Zarqa University, congratulated student Al-Howri on this
honorable achievement, praising his excellence and proficiency in Quran
recitation.
Al-Ramahi emphasized that this
success reflects the outstanding level Zarqa University has reached in caring
for its students, both Jordanian and international, and providing an
educational and cultural environment that encourages creativity and excellence.
"The university is proud of its
students who represent it in various forums and competitions, and this victory
enhances the university's position as a comprehensive educational environment
that embraces students of different nationalities and cultures", he added.
Al-Ramahi also affirmed the
university's continued support for student activities and participation that
promote the values of excellence, tolerance, and openness to the world.
Student Al-Howri expressed his great happiness with this victory, thanking
Zarqa University, its administration, and his Professors for their continuous
support that helped him achieve this accomplishment.
Al-Howri received a second-place
prize of 1,000 Jordanian dinars, in addition to a gift from Huawei Jordan.
It is worth noting that the
competition witnessed the participation of 218 male and female students from 23
Arab and Islamic countries studying at Jordanian universities. The competition
went through several stages, evaluated by a specialized jury.
