The Department of Computer Information Systems was created in the first semester of the academic year 2009/2008, and this decision came after the important and remarkable global developments in this field. This specialization started with six faculty members with specialization in this field, and the department now includes more than seventy male and female students in the Bachelor of Computer Information Systems program, as it is the only program in the department currently. The department aims to attract faculty members specializing in various fields of computer information systems science and to develop specialized laboratories that meet the needs of the study plan of the program.

Zarqa University was one of the first pioneering universities in this field, as it was the first private university to introduce a bachelor's program in computer information systems. As for the study plan for the program, it was prepared after a comprehensive study of computer information systems plans in Arab and foreign universities and access to the applications of computer information systems most widespread in the world, so the plan came to enable the student to build smart systems that can be used in different areas of life, and the first batch of students was accepted in the first semester of the 2008/2009 academic year.
