 Vision :

To provide distinguished educational services, scientific research and local community services in the field of English language.

 Mission :

Graduating qualified graduates with scientific research and working skills to fulfill the needs of both local and foreign market. 

 Objectives :

  1. To  provide academic skills and competence in various   genres of   literature from   the 16th century to the modern age.
  2.   To cultivate advanced skills in reading, evaluating, and writing critically on various subjects in the literary fields   of  poetry , drama ,novel, criticism, literary theory, research methodology  and stylistics. 
  3.  To enable students to understand a wide range of research methodologies, and  apply a subset of those relevant to their own research  in writing for publication or                     for education and industry. 
  4. To enable students to write  research/ thesis in a faultless style. 
  5. To acquaint students with writers in English Literature and major critical trends, forms and techniques of writing in  areas pertaining to the study of literature, through detailed study of specific  literary works. 
  6.  To develop   aptitudes and  skills of students to equip them to face the challenges and needs of a fast-changing society by encouraging independence of mind and critical thinking.
  7. To familiarize students with the major periods of literary expression from the medieval period to the present, examining texts in relation to their historical contexts, aesthetic moments and as cultural artifacts.  
  8. To develop aptitudes and  skills of students to equip them to face the challenges and needs of a fast-changing society by encouraging independence of mind and critical thinking.

 Learning Outcomes :

  1. To demonstrate knowledge of the major texts , movements and traditions of literature written in English in their social, cultural and historical context.
  2.   To demonstrate mastery of critical and creative thinking skills.
  3.   To  carry out independent research.
  4.  To covey proficiency in critical discussions ,presentations and seminars .
  5.   To identify research problems and how to deal with them properly.
  6. To respect the academic working environment, particularly with regard to plagiarism.
  7.                                                                                                                                         To develop knowledge and understanding of critical and theoretical perspectives of literary research at post-graduate level. 
  8.    To evaluate the relevance and validity of different theoretical approaches (e.g., historicist, biographical, etc.) to the   understanding of specific works of literature.
