A scientific symposium entitled "International Law and Islam: Roots and Bridges" (10/04/2018)

The Faculty of Sharia at Zarqa University, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, organized today, Tuesday, a scientific day entitled "International Law and Islam: Roots and Bridges". The acting president of Zarqa University, Prof. Nader Abu Sheikha, said that this scientific day aims to highlight the common human values agreed upon by Islamic law and international humanitarian law in times of war, and to focus on the importance of cooperation and integration in what serves the interests of humanity.
He added that defending human rights in times of peace and war is one of the important issues that scientific and religious institutions must address, noting that this joint scientific day between the faculty of Sharia and the International Committee of the Red Cross adds more dialogue and cooperation to serve the humanitarian work.
For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Sharia at Zarqa University, Dr. Anas Al-Khalayleh, said that the reawakeningof the nation needs a deep knowledge dimension that establishes science, values and adherence to the law, indicating that Islamic legislation prohibits wars of annihilation and destruction of property just for the sake of destruction and destroying, and the reference in that is the prohibition of corruption on the ground.
The assistant chief of the sdelegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Walid al-Fuqaha, noted that this scientific day is an invitation to reflect on the common and complementary between the principles and objectives of noble humanitarian action and between the solid foundations and the original purposes of Islamic law, and we seek, by addressing minds and hearts, to introduce international humanitarian law and highlight its close links with the great Islamicheritage.
He also pointed out that the International Committee of the Red Cross has taken upon itself to entrust the international community contained in international conventions to introduce international humanitarian law everywhere and raise awareness of it. The scientific day consisted of two sessions: The first session dealt with "common principles and foundations between Sharia and international humanitarian law", as it included a lecture "The Jurisprudence of War in Islam" presented by Dr. Tayseer Al-Omar from the Faculty of Sharia at Zarqa University, while Walid Al-Jurah from the International Committee of the Red Cross A lecture entitled "Introduction to learning about international humanitarian law." The regional advisor of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Dr. Hussam Al-Shakhshir, gave a lecture entitled "Introducing international law and practical facts".
The second session, entitled "Humanitarian Work", included lectures on "Humanitarian Work in Islamic Law" presented by the Director of the Zarqa Islamic affairs, Dr. Muhammad Fawzi, while MP Dr. Mustafa Al-Khasawneh gave a lecture on "Humanitarian Work in Law - Jordan as a model, where he talked about refugees'relief, shelter and rights. At the conclusion of the opening session, which was attended by faculty deans, university students and representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Dr. Nader Abu Sheikha handed the shields of appreciation to the participants.

A scientific day entitled "Alternative Medicine between Science and Sharia" (19/12/2017)

The faculty of Allied Medical Sciences at Zarqa University, in cooperation with the College of Sharia and Pharmacy, organized a scientific day entitled "Alternative Medicine between Science and Sharia." The President of Zarqa University, Prof. Dr. Bassam El-Helou, said that the science and profession of medicine occupies a high position among the sciences, and recently the reference to "alternative medicine" has spread, as it includes many types of treatments. He added that Islamic law preceded modern man-made legislation in establishing the rules of medical responsibility, in a way that guarantees the protection of the doctor, preserves the rights of the patient, and encourages the development of the scientific method for the medical profession, as the Sharia teachings and the Islamic religion were rich in many benefits, rules and general principles in various matters, so it was a beacon to all people.
The Dean of the faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, Dr. Atta Ali, confirmed that the faculty has always provided distinguished educational and learningaspects, indicating that the scientific days and non-extracurricular activities aim to increase the effectiveness of cooperation between students and in line with the university's mission to prepare a generation with a high degree of science and culture.
The Dean alsoindicated that this year's Scientific Day carries a collective title of two pillars that are not separated from the pillars of our life, namely religion and science, and their contributions together in the field of medicine and public health.
The scientific day included sessions that included many topics, the most prominent of which were: "legislative Sharia rooting for preventive medicine" presented by Dr. Abdul Rahim Al Sharif, Vice President of the faculty of Sharia at Zarqa University, and "Natural Hijama between Sharia and Science" delivered by Dr. Salman Al-Hamoud, advisor to the Asylum Foundation for Training and Consulting, in addition to the entry To pharmacology and medicinal herbs "by Dr. Ahmed Al-Koufahi, a faculty member at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Zarqa University.
The scientific day also included an exhibition of medicinal herbs and Hijama(cupping). At the conclusion of the scientific day, which was attended by the deans of the faculties, members of the faculty and administrative bodies and students, Dr. Bassam Al-Hilu presented shields of appreciation to the participants.
