About the Department
The department was established at the beginning of the academic year 1994/1995 by a decision of the Council of Deans, which stipulates the establishment of two academic departments in the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies. The department awards a bachelor's degree in the foundations of religion, and the department contributes to the general activities of the faculty, the university and the local community, such as holding religious events in mosques, schools and clubs, the faculty's scientific day, an open legal meeting with students, participating in seminars and specialized courses, and cooperating with the Islamic Cultural Center. It is also linked to cooperative academic relations with the corresponding departments in other universities inside and outside the Kingdom, which contributes to building bridges of cooperation and integration with the local and university community at the local and international levels.
Labs and Facilities:
The department is distinguished by the competence of the faculty members, the use of modern methods of teaching, in addition to practical training in the laboratories of recitation and tajweed, the use of the hadith library specialized in authentication and training in modern electronic authentication methods.
Fields of work for graduates:
A graduate of the Department of Fundamentals of Religion can work in the following fields:

Teaching in public and private schools inside and outside the Kingdom in various elementary and secondary stages of Islamic education, recitation of the Qur'an, Islamic sciences, and Islamic culture.

Work in the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and Holy Places as an imam, muezzin or supervisor of a house for memorizing the Holy Qur'an.

Completion of postgraduate studies in the MA and Ph.D., majoring in: interpretation and the sciences of the Noble Qur'an, noble hadith, belief, comparison of religions, Islamic philosophy, Islamic studies, advocacy, and Islamic media.

Work for research, studies and consulting centers.
