The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences was established in 1994 alongside the founding of Zarqa University, serving as one of the University's principal academic pillars in fulfilling its educational, research, and community service mission. Since its establishment, the Faculty has been committed to preparing scientifically qualified and professionally competent graduates capable of meeting the evolving needs of the national, regional, and international labor markets across diverse fields of economics, business, and administration. The Faculty commenced its academic journey in 1994 by offering bachelor's degree programs in Business Administration, Accounting, and Banking and Financial Sciences. In 1999, the Department of Economics was established, followed by the Departments of Marketing and Management Information Systems in 2001. Responding to developments in the labor market, the Department of Accounting Information Systems and the Department of Islamic Banking were established in 2006 and 2010, respectively.
In line with its commitment to advanced education and academic excellence, the Faculty launched its postgraduate programs beginning with the Master of Accounting in 2010, followed by the Master of Marketing in 2013 and the Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2015. Throughout its academic journey, the Faculty has continuously updated its curricula to align with contemporary developments in economics and business education. The Faculty actively embraces digital transformation by integrating modern educational technologies and artificial intelligence tools into teaching and learning practices.
The Faculty is also dedicated to attracting highly qualified academic staff with distinguished expertise while emphasizing experiential learning, practical training, and field-based education across its programs. Excellence in teaching and quality assurance remain central to the Faculty's mission, supported by the implementation of innovative teaching strategies and the provision of a dynamic research environment that encourages scholarly excellence among both faculty members and undergraduate and postgraduate students.
In 2022, in response to rapid technological and digital advancements, the Faculty introduced the Electronic Marketing and Social Media program to replace the traditional Marketing program. In 2023, the Banking and Financial Sciences program was transformed into Financial Technology (FinTech), while the Management Information Systems program was restructured as Business Information Technology, ensuring that the Faculty's academic offerings remain aligned with the evolving demands of the digital economy and the labor market.

The Faculty places strong emphasis on research excellence by supporting its academic staff in publishing high-quality research in internationally recognized journals. This commitment is reinforced through publication incentives, research awards, and financial support to cover publication fees, thereby fostering a vibrant and productive research culture. As part of its strategic vision toward internationalization and academic excellence, the Faculty continues to pursue prestigious accreditations and professional affiliations. It was awarded the Quality Assurance Certificate in 2022, successfully completed the national program accreditation and classification process in 2024, and has established institutional membership and engagement with leading international organizations, including the IFRS Sustainability Alliance, AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), and the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).
Beginning with the 2025–2026 academic year, the Faculty implemented Curriculum Plan 12 across its undergraduate programs, introducing a comprehensive practical training component that enables students to gain hands-on professional experience in their respective fields prior to graduation. To support this initiative, the Faculty actively establishes strategic partnerships with relevant public and private sector organizations. During the current academic year, and with the full support of the University Presidency, a training partnership agreement was concluded with the Information Systems Audit and Control Association – ISACA Jordan Chapter, providing students with valuable professional training opportunities.
The Faculty also places significant importance on international student mobility through Zarqa University's International Cooperation Unit. Under structured exchange programs, students have the opportunity to study for one or more semesters at partner universities abroad with full financial support and under the academic supervision of Zarqa University, thereby enriching their educational experience and strengthening their global competencies.
