About the Department
Welcome to the Department of Physics at Zarqa University / Jordan. That was established and accredited in 2011. The University was keen on establishing this department due to the significance and contribution of physics to the advancement of communities. The science of physics is the cornerstone in the structure of most sciences. Since its inception, the department built a teaching and research base, and currently the department includes a number of faculty members with experience and competence, and a number of lab technicians.
The Department has an undergraduate program in physics, and focuses on preparing graduates who are able to continue their higher studies, become teachers of physics in schools, or joint the research community in several areas like medicine, agriculture, customs, industrial institutions, and research centers at the local, regional, and international level. The Department provides service-courses for all university students put in complementary materials such as: astronomy, scientific education, as well as services for the students of the faculties of science and engineering.
The main areas of research in the department include: practical and theoretical nuclear physics, radiation physics, the physics of condensed state, theoretical physics, science of materials, computer physics, medical physics, solid state physics. The Department also contains many laboratories, namely: mechanics, heat, electricity, magnetism, modern physics, optics, advanced laboratories in Physics, and Computational Physics.
