On behalf of the faculty members and workers in the Department of Medical Radiologic Technologies at the College of Allied Medical Sciences at Zarqa University, I welcome all of you to this pioneering department with the distinction of its employees, and students, which we have always been and still call it the "family", which is our first home with the prestige of its being and belonging. The approval of the Commission for Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions and Quality Assurance has been issued for the adoption of a special accreditation for the Department of Medical Radiologic Technologies in the College of Allied Medical Sciences in the year 2023. The reception of the first batch of students has started as of the beginning of the second semester of the academic year 2022/2023.
The aim of establishing this department came in light of the quantitative expansion and qualitative development witnessed by allied health specialties in the region in particular and the Kingdom in general, and the accompanying need to provide health institutions with scientifically and professionally qualified graduates to work in the field of radiology and medical imaging sciences, armed with the latest theoretical and practical experiences and professional ethics, whether in the academic or applied aspect.
The department grants a bachelor's degree in Medical Radiologic Technologies to graduate students who have completed the study and applications of the integrated curriculum in radiologic technologies. The department teaches and trains students scientifically and practically to acquire the necessary skills to successfully practice work in the field of Medical Radiologic Technologies and its various applications, which include anatomy and tissues, physiology, pathology, the foundations of medicine, and medical applications of computers, radiation protection, and bio-radiation, and modern techniques in radiological imaging diagnostic, Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance, Nuclear Medicine, Computed Tomography, and Radiotherapy. Thus, they can make and understand radiological images of all kinds, and work with radiologists, nuclear medicine doctors, and doctors specializing in examining tumors and other various diseases. The program also qualifies graduates to work as medical technicians in the field of diagnostic radiology techniques in radiology and medical imaging departments in hospitals and health centers.
To keep pace with the rapid development and the increasing reliance on medical imaging in diagnosing and treating most pathological cases, the department is working on reviewing and developing study plans and training methods on a regular and continuous basis and making adjustments to meet the best international standards, which are reflected in the practical performance of graduates, as this program is considered an applied program with distinction compared to similar specializations Radiology and other medical imaging techniques at local and international universities.
Perfection in work has been and is still being achieved and will continue, God willing, with the presence of a veteran group of male and female employees who are scientifically and practically qualified in the field of specialization and all associated fields. All this leads to ensuring the graduation of qualified specialists in the field.
On the other hand, the department works to achieve the research capacity with distinction by paying full attention to the outputs of the department and qualifying its students in the research field by providing all the important capabilities to achieve this from agreements, equipment, and scientific research sources.
In conclusion, we all aspire and always work to develop and upgrade this department in various fields, and with God’s help and success, we will achieve the hopes that we aspired to by the will of God Almighty, and then thanks to the competence and dedication of all the department’s employees, including professors, teaching assistants, technicians, and students.
