Zarqa University represented by a member of the
Faculty of Engineering Technology in the Department of Architectural Engineering,
Dr. Bushra Zalloom participated in the International Conference on Civil and
Architectural Engineering (ICCAE-2019), held in Istanbul, Turkey, from 6 to 7
July 2019, with a scientific paper entitled "Green Buildings: Towards a
Sustainable Transformations of Buildings".
Dr. Zalloom stressed the importance of green
building as an ideal solution to face the environmental challenges in the
contemporary world. She explained the possibility of transforming the existing
buildings into green buildings by applying the principles of sustainability, thus
ensuring a sustainable transformation of these buildings at the lowest costs to
contribute to increasing the number of green buildings in the city. She also discussed the green building situation
in Jordan in general and highlighted some of the recent case studies in Amman,
in particular, which applied sustainable design criteria to existing old
buildings, transforming them into sustainable green buildings.
It is worth mentioning that the conference aims
to highlight the latest developments and researches in the field of Civil Architecture
At the end of the conference, Dr. Bushra Zalloom
presented a souvenir on behalf of Zarqa University to the Chair of the session,
Professor Arini Chachawande, who expressed her happiness at this important
presence of Zarqa University in the conference, because of the university's
reputation for being elite among the Arab universities.
